Bronte House

Bronte Beach NSW

McBean & Co Design was engaged to reimagine the interior of a substantial semi-detached home in Bronte, transforming a dated 1990s layout into a refined and highly functional coastal residence for a family of five.

The existing floorplan no longer supported contemporary family living. A new layout was devised to expand and open the kitchen and main living areas, introduce a dedicated laundry, retain the front living room and balconies, and incorporate a new home office. Upstairs, an additional bedroom was created alongside a reconfigured master suite complete with ensuite and walk-in robe. Enlarged balcony openings were designed to fully capture the ocean views and strengthen the home’s connection to its coastal setting.

The brief called for relaxed coastal elegance with enduring sophistication. A custom timber and marble kitchen anchors the home, while marble, terrazzo and textured tiles enrich the bathrooms. An outdoor fireplace extends the living zone year-round, and new entry battens enhance street presence.

The result is a sophisticated yet effortless coastal home, thoughtfully restructured to support evolving family life.
