McBean & Co Design was engaged to reconfigure and extend this much-loved Bondi Beach homewares store, enhancing functionality while preserving the character and warmth that customers value.

The brief centred on creating a more considered layout to improve flow and product visibility. A simple, neutral shelving system was introduced throughout, with integrated LED lighting to illuminate merchandise and allow the colourful product range to remain the hero. The restrained material palette ensured the space acted as a calm backdrop rather than competing with stock.

Architectural arches were incorporated to soften the spatial language, while pegboard displays provided flexibility and visual articulation for smaller items. The rear extension enabled the introduction of a dedicated children’s zone, broadening the store’s offer, and the repositioning of the popular card section deeper within the store encouraged a more deliberate customer journey.

The result is a refined yet vibrant retail environment that strengthens brand identity, improves circulation and supports increased dwell time and sales performance.
