McBean & Co Design was engaged to develop a Concept Design strategy for the entire centre, identifying opportunities for staged upgrade and long-term repositioning.

Following detailed cost review and collaboration with the centre team, we prioritised four key interventions to maximise impact within a defined capital budget.

The upgrade focused on:

• Flooring renewal throughout the centre, introducing new carpet and timber-look vinyl to unify circulation paths and refresh ageing finishes.
• A strategic enhancement of the amenities — retaining existing floor tiles and partitions to minimise cost, while upgrading vanity areas, lighting and entrances to significantly elevate perception and user experience.
• Introduction of new furniture pods, scaled appropriately to anchor larger volumes and create moments of comfort, pause and social connection.
• Commissioning bespoke artwork within corridors and entrances to strengthen placemaking, improve wayfinding and inject colour and atmosphere into transitional spaces.

Within the furniture zones, we embraced a subtle garden-centre narrative — selecting rich green leather banquettes and bespoke fabrics by Kerrie Brown that reflect the surrounding landscape. The renewed carpet, with its dappled green pattern, evokes filtered light through tree canopies, creating a calm, familiar environment for both long-standing residents and new families.

The result is a cohesive uplift that strengthens customer experience, enhances asset perception and demonstrates how targeted, disciplined investment can materially shift atmosphere and value.
